The Grand, positioned directly across from the Walt Disney Concert Hall, is a sophisticated development that includes luxury rental units, a hotel, restaurants, and retail spaces. Organized into two buildings, the 45-story rental tower and 28-story hotel tower create a three-story retail plaza that frames views of the Concert Hall. The design aims to urbanistically generate a dialogue between The Grand and Walt Disney Concert Hall through a contrasting architectural language and also focus on creating space between the two landmarks at the street level. The sloped site enables a terraced arrangement of retail spaces and a multi-level parking structure, smoothly connecting Grand Avenue to Olive Street. The massing of The Grand is designed to guide pedestrian movement through the development, integrating the experience with the nearby Walt Disney Concert Hall.
